TORTOISE

Finds from Tortoise General store a few weeks ago. Some day I'll buy an entire Hasami dinnerware set from there... *___*

One of my only complaints about living in LA is how difficult my skin is here. Dry desert weather plus the disgusting air quality downtown has transformed my previously minimal effort beauty routine into a high maintenance ordeal that only barely staves off clogged pores and breakouts. This clay and charcoal face soap combined with an exfoliating towel is helping a lot right now but I think I need to look into new moisturizers as well. Any recs for super sensitive dry skin?

THE LITTLE THINGS

Clyde coin purse, Comme des Garçons cardcase

A few (not so) recent purchases I've been meaning to share. Making the switch from a checkbook wallet to this CDG cardcase was a surprisingly significant lifestyle change that I feel only the better for and this rabbit coin pouch is a fun texture to encounter when I carry a bag.

And I thought it was about time I upgraded from baby shampoo to something, anything else so I picked these up at the Ace. I used it in Palm Springs last year and it did wonders restoring my dead ends. May try out some Aesop next since it's so close to work.

ON BEAUTY

MUJI Moisturizing Milk, All-In-One Essence, Charcoal Face Soap, and Face Brush

My beauty routine is simple- really simple. I rinse my face with warm water twice a day, exfoliate with a washcloth in the shower, and moisturize with Gold Bond Healing with Aloe. I'm not even sure if it's supposed to be used on the face, but it's the only lotion I've ever used that hasn't made me break out in hives or pimples. If I'm going out maybe I'll wear lipstick or fill in my eyebrows, but in terms of an everyday look, that's it. And for the past three years, unless I go HAM on pizza and ice cream too many nights in a row, my skin is generally pretty blemish-free.

But lately, I've been feeling like my skin could be better and while traveling last month my skin was so traumatized from the heat, humidity, and changes in water quality that I picked up a few things for my skin at MUJI (I'm a sucker for packaging). I've only been using the soap and moisturizers for a few days now but so far my face is happy and the moisturizing milk gives my skin a nice dewy look.
