Year old project ideas finally seen through. This one is done in boiled wool and a bit too heavy, but I plan of making a variation on this theme in shirting material for summer.

In case the fact that I wore all white and mostly silk didn't tip you off, let me tell you that I was woefully unprepared for this three hour hike to Angel's Rest last weekend. This photo adequately conveys how I felt at every point in between the parking lot and the summit, although a little boy we passed on the way down best epitomized my feelings when he petulantly (and sweatily) told his father, "We're not going hiking again for one year!!"

JOHN RUVIN & CO SUNGLASSES / BDG DRESS

At the beginning of winter last year I broke my sunglasses and put off buying new ones. Who needs sunglasses during a Portland winter full of grey skies? Not me. So I put off buying new glasses. I put it off even after the sun starting showing up and necessitated them. I would probably still be squinting into the sunlight now, if it weren't for John Ruvin & Co. They generously sent me a pair of summer sunglasses (they also make prescription eyewear too!) last week so now I can stop squinting and actually enjoy the sunshine.

The sun is out again and I'm finally saying goodbye to my cold weather blues. As I get older I notice my usual perma-grouch winter state leaking into the spring months too until an 80 degree day finally sweats the bitterness out of me. Now I'm ready to spend my whole weekend at the dog park. How could anyone be in a bad mood when you're surrounded by pups?
