skirt update

finally, a proper update on this whole skirt situation. i really appreciate everyone's patience with me. i know i promised skirts sooner, but it's been kind of crazy lately.
i decided that it would be way too hectic and unmanageable to do the skirt orders as a first-come-first-serve e-mail basis, so i've decided to set up an Etsy shop. it's still under construction and no skirts have been listed as of yet, but i will update it either tonight or tomorrow morning with a couple of skirts.

http://childhoodflames.etsy.com

my goal is to update once a week with about 3-5 new skirts. we'll see how it goes from there. let me know what you'd like to see in the store. larger sizes? longer hemlines? more colors? i'm not planning on doing custom orders, but if you let me know, i can try to accomodate your request.
also, i've decided (at least for now) to only ship within the US. sorry international readers! :(

Camille-
you may want to check into accepting Paypal via Etsy...it's quite easy and then you don't have to deal with checks and money orders(waiting for them to clear/pulling a skirt from your listings that never does get paid)Good luck with your business venture--we can all say "we knew her when..."

those tags are adorable!! i want to write my name with a sewing machine! haha

yes!! Your skirts are gorg, and I am awful at sewing so I can't make them myself. I will def. buy one! I am a small (0,2). Circle puffy skirts would be great- colors: black, camel, army, print colors. Just some suggestions!

I can't wait :):)

Soo exciting! Maybe you'll eventually ship to canada if it is successful?!

Lindz said...

Great idea! I will be there for sure! I love one of a kind pieces. Do I get a special oregon discount? Ha ha kidding. Good for you, you'll get your name out there and pocket some dough. Let me know when you're up for business.

You're selling the skirts? Awesome, and very ambitious. I'll be saving up for one. Perhaps consider making some in velvet and wool? (for the approaching winter months)

oh camille, i'm disappointed that you won't be shipping internationally: please let me know when you decide to, the skirts are just lovely, just what i have been looking for! my own sewing machine is broken at the moment, and i move out of the country in a matter of days and am unable to bring it with me, so there is no hope for me to make my own any time soon!
good luck with the etsy store, and like i say, if you do consider international shipping, please let me know! that would be wonderful.

Camille...don't sell yourself short. Seriously. $25 for a HANDMADE skirt is preposterous. You're practically giving them away. A handsewn tag? beautiful...really. Double or triple the price, girl. Your audience will still applaud you...and continue to support what you are really worth.

BTW. I was about to snap up the white one you have posted, but I have had kids and share a bowl of ice cream with them on occasion, so a 24" waist won't work for me...heh heh. Can we start at a comfy 26" at least for me?

CHEERS!

Aww. I wish you would ship to Canada too!

So for us international readers, I guess we'll just have to get off out backsides and learn how to sew! Your skirts are very effective for something so simple, and I'm often seeing lovely fabric and wishing I could do something with it. Fabulous idea, all the best for your store. Don't let it become a chore though, you don't owe it to anyone to keep up with demand!

kirstie said...

ah, please consider shipping internationally soon! i'm going to be needing your skirts for spring and i'm too hopeless at a sewing machine to make one myself!
xoxo

you're the ugly mixed girl i've ever seen.
isn't your skirt just a rip off of miu miu? why do you call it a camille original? i smell a COPY CAT.
also. she: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5620566§ion_id=5321597

sells the same exact skirt for 8. which i'm sure can be customed for much less than your $25. ripoff.

anonymous @ 10.52

is that etsy link really a link to a virus?

camille said...

anonymous @ 10:52 - i'm sorry you feel that way. you are also free to buy her skirt instead if you like.

Anonymous said...

That Anonymous is retarded because the link is first of all not a good link and second of all, that seller only sells kids clothes. For "wee" kids, so if you want to buy a kid's skirt for $8 I think it's appropriate because their attitude is one of a kid.

love those cute tags

Camille I'm so excited for you! I love all of mine, last time I traveled I put the one I took with me in my carry-on so it wouldn't get lost lol.

Cheyenne said...

haha i admire your polite sassyness (when defending yourself). Its a great trait to have.
Congrats on the store!

Anonymous said...

Although they are nice, 35 is way to expensive. I would not pay that much for a skirt that i can make myself. I wish you would lower the prices

Cheyenne said...

Oh and i would love to have a flaming red skirt simular to one you wore way back with that anthropologie coat!

camille said...

anonymous @ 12:05 - they are actually not all $35. the one currently in my shop right now has twice the fabric of the original version (which are $25). also i have a tutorial for the skirts (check the old entries of my blog) which shows you how to make your own if you'd prefer to do that. :)

Shini said...

PITY that you don't ship internationally!! loving the tag - adorable!! soon enough you'll be starting your own boutique! heh

Anonymous said...

$25-$35 is not expensive AT ALL considering you're picking out the fabric and putting in the labor yourself. I don't know what some commenters are talking about... Can't wait to buy one!

ramona west said...

seriously, $25-35 for a handmade skirt is very inexpensive - maybe too inexpensive. i can't understand how people can complain about that price. this is not mass-production. handmade garments are special. you do a great job of defending yourself though. xo.

Linda said...

Oh I'm SO excited! I'll keep checking back.

yay im excited!
could you possibly do old victorian floral prints and larger sizes?
